Ranking Member Shaheen Welcomes King Charles III and Queen Camilla to the United States

WASHINGTON - Today, U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), Ranking Member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, welcomed the visit of His Royal Highness King Charles III and Queen Camilla to the United States.

"I warmly welcome King Charles III and Queen Camilla to the United States for their first royal visit and reaffirm our commitment to the special, bilateral relationship. King Charles' frequent visits the United States over the course of his life have demonstrated his deep commitment to deepening ties between the United Kingdom and the United States. I appreciate his personal engagement on environmental issues and youth initiatives that have not only advanced these important causes on a global stage but also have added a sentimental touch to his visits to the United States. At a time of growing global challenges, including Russia's ongoing aggression against Ukraine, I am grateful to His Highness for his commitment to transatlantic security and his frequent invitations to meet with President Zelenskyy. His actions demonstrate how positions of power and influence can be deployed to offer hope, encouragement and inspiration to partners and allies in pressing times. Simply put, the United Kingdom and United States are stronger and better off when we stand shoulder to shoulder, as we have for generations. I wish Their Majesties a fruitful visit and welcome this opportunity to reaffirm the ties that bind our two nations."
