Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi Calls for Investigation into the Trump Administration’s Accidental Disclosure of Military Plans for Attacks in Yemen

WASHINGTON - Today, Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi, who serves on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence as the Ranking Member of the Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party and on the Committee on Oversight and Government Accountability, issued the following statement on Atlantic Editor in Chief Jeffrey Goldberg's reportthat Trump Administration national security officials unknowingly included him in a group chat about upcoming military strikes in Yemen:

"I am deeply concerned - as we all should be - by new reports that the Trump Administration carelessly sent detailed military plans for an attack on Yemen directly to a journalist. Such flagrant disregard for our national security raises the question of how often this Administration puts our nation at such risk. The American military deserves better, and the American people deserve answers. As a senior Member of the Intelligence Committee, I will be demanding a full accounting from the relevant agencies and Trump Administration officials to determine how these potentially deadly errors occurred and to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place moving forward. Our national security must never be compromised by carelessness or incompetence. Those responsible must be held accountable."
