Rosen Votes to Overturn Harmful Trump Administration Health Care Rule, Republicans Block It

The Trump Administration Rule Would Make It Harder And More Expensive For Families To Enroll In Health Care Coverage Through The ACA Marketplace

WASHINGTON, DC - Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) released the following statement after she voted for a resolution to overturn a Trump Administration rule that will make it harder and more expensive for Americans to enroll in health care coverage through the Affordable Care Act (ACA) marketplaces. Senate Republicans voted against this resolution and blocked it from passing, keeping the Trump Administration rule in place.

"More than 110,000 Nevadans rely on the Affordable Care Act marketplace to get quality, affordable health care coverage, which is why I voted to overturn a Trump rule that would make it more expensive and harder to get coverage through the marketplace," said Senator Rosen. "Unfortunately, Senate Republicans sided with Donald Trump and maintained this rule that could cause Nevadans to lose coverage and spike health care costs for hardworking families. As long as I'm in the Senate, I won't back down from fighting to make health care more affordable for all families."

Senator Rosen has been a leader in the fight to make sure millions of Americans don't lose their health insurance. She has repeatedly voted in favor of legislation to extend the ACA's enhanced premium tax credits, and last year, she helped introduce the Health Care Affordability Act to make the tax credits permanent - ensuring that Nevada families can continue to afford coverage. She has also traveled up and down the state, meeting with hospital staff to discuss Washington Republicans' extreme cuts to Medicaid and her legislation to reverse these cuts.
