Lane Closure Notice: Massachusetts Avenue and W Street

Temporary lane closures and detours are in effect for Massachusetts Avenue and "W" Street as emergency repairs are completed to the roadway due to a water main break in the area.

The emergency repairs are expected to be completed by Sunday, June 21, weather permitting. Drivers should use extra caution and follow road crew instructions and posted signs when traveling through the work zone.

Detours and closures are as follows:

• Massachusetts Avenue:
  • Closed at the intersection of North "W" Street. No through traffic.
• North "W" Street:
  • Drivers traveling northbound and southbound approaching the Massachusetts Avenue intersection on North "W" Street will be reduced to one lane in each direction at the intersection. Lane shifts will be in effect just past the intersection before reopening to two lanes of traffic.
• Eastbound Massachusetts Avenue Detour:
  • Detour south on Warehouse Lane and turn east (left) onto Truman Avenue
  • Detour ends at North "W" Street just south of the intersection with Massachusetts Avenue
• Westbound Massachusetts Avenue Detour:
  • Detour south on Coons Avenue, turn east (right) onto Norris Avenue, and turn north (right) onto Andrew Avenue
  • Detour ends at North "W" Street just south of the intersection with Massachusetts Avenue

Additional lane closures and detours may be scheduled in the future for further repairs to be completed. If other roadway closures are necessary or work is delayed, another notice will be issued.
