IDFA Statement on Trump Administration H-2A Guidance for Dairy Operations

WASHINGTON, June 17, 2026- The International Dairy Foods Association (IDFA) today welcomed new Trump administration guidance clarifying how dairy operations may use the H-2A temporary agricultural worker program when they can demonstrate a qualifying temporary or seasonal labor need under existing law.

IDFA President and CEO Michael Dykes released the following statement:

"IDFA appreciates President Trump's commitment to advancing a workforce solution that recognizes the unique needs of America's dairy industry. Today's announcement makes the H-2A temporary agricultural worker program a more viable tool for dairy producers, who have had no way to participate in a program designed primarily for seasonal agriculture. IDFA is grateful to President Trump, Secretary Mullin, Secretary Rollins and Acting Secretary Sonderling for using their administrative authorities to respond to the dairy sector's need for a stable, legal and reliable workforce. We urge Congress to build on these improvements by advancing additional solutions that further secure the agricultural workforce for dairy producers and processors."
