Skate in the Park returns to Acacia Park Friday with holiday celebration

The City of Colorado Springs and Downtown Partnership are bringing back one of Downtown's most beloved winter traditions as Skate in the Park opens Friday, Nov. 14 at Acacia Park. The family-friendly outdoor ice rink welcomes thousands of residents and visitors each winter, offering a festive experience in the heart of Olympic City USA.

Opening night festivities will include the annual Acacia Park Holiday Celebration, beginning at 6 p.m. The free event will feature performances by the Soli Deo Gloria Choir, a welcome from Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Director Britt Haley and Mayor Yemi Mobolade, remarks from community partners, a DJ, and a special performance by U.S. Figure Skating junior athletes.

Public skating sessions on opening day are scheduled from 4 to 6 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tickets are $15 per session, which includes skate rental. Children 4 and under skate free with a paid adult, and a $2 discount is available for guests with a valid military or first responder ID.

Throughout the season, themed skate nights and special events will take place, including opportunities to skate with the Air Force Falcons Hockey Team and U.S. Figure Skating athletes. The rink will remain open daily through Jan. 31.

Skate in the Park is a program of the City of Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department and Downtown Partnership of Colorado Springs. The 2025-26 season is made possible through the support of gold sponsor T-Fiber; media sponsor The Gazette; silver sponsors Colorado Air National Guard, Generation Wild (GOCO), Mash Mechanix, Neon Pig, Poor Richard's, Pikes Peak Library District, Tallgrass, and U.S. Figure Skating; and bronze sponsors Adventures Out West, Raising Cane's, and the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center at Colorado College.
