Weekend Ramp Closures on I-85 in College Pk, East Point, Hapeville for Concrete Rehab Project
Expect Traffic Delays
ATLANTA, GA - The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) contractors install lane and ramp closures on Interstate 85 (I-85) in Clayton and Fulton counties this weekend to continue a concrete slab rehabilitation project on five miles between State Route 139/Riverdale Road (SR 139) and State Route 3/Metropolitan Parkway (SR 3) in Clayton and Fulton Counties. These activities help repair and extend the life of the concrete materials on the roadway.

Weather and on-site conditions permitting, these are the ramp closures scheduled for Friday, April 17, from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m. Saturday:
  • I-85 southbound exit ramp to Virginia Avenue (exit 73)
  • Virginia Avenue (exit 73) entrance ramp to I-85 southbound
  • I -85 southbound exit to Sylvan Road (exit 75)
  • Sylvan Road entrance (exit 75) to I-85 southbound
Roadside signage will advise drivers of the closures in advance and provide directions to the detour routes.
This $7.1 M project is scheduled for completion in early 2026.

Motorists are advised to expect delays, exercise caution, and reduce their speed while traveling through the work zone during the project work hours. Before heading out, get real-time information on work status and traffic conditions. Call 511, visit 511ga.org, or download the Georgia 511 app.
