Annapolis: Free Downtown Holiday Parking Is Back!

Two Hours Free at Meters, One Hour Free at Hillman Garage From Thanksgiving to New Year's Using ParkMobile

ANNAPOLIS, MD (October 11, 2024) - The City of Annapolis will bring back free holiday parking; two hours at metered/kiosk spaces and one hour at Hillman Garage when using the ParkMobile app. The popular program takes place between Thanksgiving and New Year's. Paired with other free parking options downtown (Residents Park Free and Park, Shop & Dine), residents and visitors have every reason to do all their holiday shopping and dining right here in historic downtown Annapolis!

PARKING PROGRAMS:

  • Free Holiday Parking: Park at any metered or kiosk space in downtown Annapolis, use the ParkMobile app, and get two hours free. You may opt to extend your time at the regular rate. Park at Hillman Garage (145 Gorman Street), use the ParkMobile app and the first hour is free. To download ParkMobile, visit the app store on your iOS or Android smartphone and search for "ParkMobile." Drivers without a smartphone may use the call-in number 877-727-5758for free holiday parking. Provide the tag number and the parking zone code. Please note: parking enforcement remains in effect for expired meters.

  • Residents Park Free: City of Annapolis residents can get codes valid for two hours of free parking at City-owned downtown garages: Gotts, Knighton, Park Place and Hillman. Must show proof of residency. Visit https://www.annapolisparking.com/parking-decalsfor more information.

  • Park, Shop & Dine: Visitors can get two hours of free garage parking at Gotts, Knighton, Park Place and Hillman by shopping or dining at designated businesses and picking up validation coupons. The free holiday parking program begins on Friday, November 29 and runs until New Year's Day. There is no enforcement at meters on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 28, Christmas Day, Wednesday, December 25, or New Year's Day, Wednesday, January 1.

ACCESSIBLE PARKING: If you have a disabled use license plate or hang tag, you may park on the streets for double the time posted. As required by federal law, accessible parking is available in all City garages (Hillman, Gotts, Knighton and Park Place). Additional on-street accessible parking is marked as accessible.

ELECTRIC VEHICLE (EV) CHARGING: All City-owned garages (Park Place, Knighton, Gotts and Hillman) have EV charging stations. Learn more: https://www.annapolis.gov/1805/Electric-Vehicle-Chargers.

MIDNIGHT MADNESS: During Midnight Madness, December 5, 12, and 19, visitors to downtown Annapolis can park for $5 at Knighton and Park Place and take the FREE Magenta shuttle to downtown (and back to the garages). Additionally, Calvert Street Garage at 19 St. Johns Street is free every weeknight from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., so visitors for Midnight Madness should take advantage of this convenient parking option. Find it online here. During Midnight Madness, the City will provide extended Magenta Shuttle Service. On these days, there will be two shuttles that will run from 4 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. from Park Place to City Dock via West Street. Track the shuttle's location in real-time by downloading the RLS Shuttle app on your smartphone and selecting, "Annapolis."

SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY (November 30th) and GRAND ILLUMINATION (December 1st):Small Business Saturday takes place every year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving inviting customers to support small and locally-owned businesses at the start of the holiday shopping season. The Grand Illumination is the annual tree lighting ceremony that takes place near Market House every year on the Sunday after Thanksgiving. Join Mr. and Mrs. Claus as they arrive to light the tree. The free event begins at 4 p.m. with performances and caroling. During the Grand Illumination, Fleet Street, Cornhill Street and Market Space are closed.
