Forest Grove City Auditorium
1915 Main Street

Community members are encouraged to stop by anytime during the event to review planned improvements, ask questions, and speak directly with project staff.

The project will install a traffic signal at the intersection, which provides access between Forest Grove schools and bus barn, as well as access to Fern Hill Wetlands and homes south of the highway.

The proposed safety improvements include:

  • Center median
  • New Right turn lane from Highway 47 to Fern Hill Road
  • New Left turn lane from Fern Hill Road to Highway 47
  • Updated street lighting
  • Intelligent Traffic System (ITS) with adaptive traffic signals
  • Improved curb ramps and sidewalk connections

The project is funded through the Major Streets Transportation Improvement Program (MSTIP 3e & 3f) a countywide program that invests in safer travel and delivers improvements to the roads that carry our communities forward.

The project includes coordination with:

  • Oregon Department of Transportation (Highway 47)
  • City of Forest Grove (Maple Street)
  • Portland and Western Rail (railroad crossing)
  • Union Pacific Railroad (railroad crossing)
  • Oregon Department of Transportation Rail Division (railroad crossing)
  • Bonneville Power Administration (power transmission lines)
  • Forest Grove Light and Power (power lines)
  • Portland General Electric (power lines)

Utility relocations are underway, with construction now expected to begin in summer 2027. Staff will be available at the open house to share updated schedules, outline next steps, and explain how partner coordination is shaping the project timeline.
