FedEx Australia Commences Construction on New Regional Site in Bundaberg

BUNDABERG, QLD, September 25, 2025 - FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX), and one of the world's largest transportation companies, today announced the official commencement of construction on its new, state-of-the-art regional facility in Bundaberg, Queensland. The new purpose-built facility spans 5,962 square metres and will be equipped with an advanced automated conveyor system capable of sorting up to 1,500 packages per hour.

The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Bundaberg Region Mayor Helen Blackburn, and Natural Resources and Environment portfolio spokesperson Cr Gary Kirk along with FedEx regional team. The new facility is projected to be operational in 2026, with construction set to begin imminently.

This new site is designed to meet the rising demand for express freight services and directly supports the region's robust economic growth. Strategically located near a rapidly expanding industrial precinct and Bundaberg Airport, this central site will provide businesses in the Wide Bay-Burnett region with seamless access to our full suite of domestic and international express and freight services.

"This new facility in Bundaberg is a direct investment in the future of Australian regional businesses," said Peter Langley, regional vice president of FedEx Australasia. "We are committed to empowering local businesses, particularly our small and medium-sized customers, by providing them with faster, more efficient connections. This hub will act as a vital link, seamlessly integrating Bundaberg's thriving industries into our agile domestic network and creating new opportunities for them to compete on the global stage. It's about more than just a building - it's about giving our customers the tools they need to grow and succeed."

The Bundaberg region has been recognised as the second-fastest-growing local economy in Queensland, with a growth rate of 7.1%. The local economy was valued at AUD $5.1 billion at the start of 2024, and its Gross Regional Product (GRP) is now estimated at $6.08 billion.

"The arrival of this new FedEx facility is a clear indicator of confidence in our region's economy," said Mayor Helen Blackburn. "It will not only create new job opportunities during construction and operation but also provide our local businesses with the advanced logistics and improved connectivity they need to thrive and compete on a national and international scale. This is a significant step forward for the economic future of Bundaberg and the Wide Bay-Burnett region."

The new FedEx facility will significantly benefit local businesses and residents by providing efficient express pick-up and delivery services across the greater Bundaberg area, including Gin Gin, Childers, and Biggenden region.
In support of the company's global goal to achieve carbon-neutral operations by 2040 globally, the new facility's design incorporates sustainable building features, including energy-efficient LED lighting and skylights in both the warehouse and office areas.
