The Sparks City Attorney's Office has announced that its prosecutor secured a conviction for Jose Medina-Medina of one count of Domestic Battery stemming from an incident that occurred on September 19, 2025.
On September 20, 2025, officers responded to a domestic battery call that occurred at the Nugget Casino on September 19, 2025. Officers met with the reporting party and the female victim, who told officers she had been staying with her fiancé, Mr. Medina-Medina, in a room at the Nugget on the night of September 19, 2025. The female victim told officers that an argument ensued after Mr. Medina-Medina found a text message on her phone and accused her of infidelity. She told officers that Mr. Medina-Medina threw her phone, causing it to shatter. The female victim also told officers that Mr. Medina-Medina proceeded to grab her by the throat and pull her towards him. Simultaneously, a bag that had been on the victim's right shoulder became entangled in his grasp, causing the strap of the bag to wrap around the female victim's right bicep and cause a bruise.
The female victim indicated that Mr. Medina-Medina punched her on the right side of the head, in her right eye, in the ribs, and pulled her hair. As a result of the attack, the female victim was observed to have dark bruising on her head, right eye, and dark purple bruising on her upper eyelid. The female victim described one of the strikes to her head as "ringing her bell" causing her to "kind of black out". The female victim eventually escaped by retrieving her vehicle from the valet and driving to a friend's house. Aside from bruising observed on her face, Officers also observed red with a yellow border bruising on the female victim's neck, a "U" shaped red mark on her left shoulder, two dark purple bruises to her ribs, dark brown and red bruised to her left forearm and arm.
Officers contacted Mr. Medina-Medina by phone, who agreed to meet with officers in person. Mr. Medina-Medina admitted to arguing with the female victim on September 19, 2025, in their room at the Nugget. Additionally, he admitted to yelling at the female victim over infidelity concerns and grabbing her by her bag and pulling her while yelling at her about the suspected infidelity. Mr. Medina-Medina denied additional physical contact and claimed that the female victim had caused her own nose to bleed. Based on the totality of the circumstances, officers arrested Mr. Medina-Medina.
