Ambassador for the Affairs of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Liu Yuxi Visits the Republic of the Congo

From February 26 to 28, 2026, Ambassador for the Affairs of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Liu Yuxi visited the Republic of the Congo and met with President Denis Sassou Nguesso. Chinese Ambassador to the Republic of the Congo An Qing, among others, was present at the meeting.

Ambassador Liu elaborated on the policy of zero-tariff measure covering all tariff lines for the 53 African countries having diplomatic relations with China, as announced by Chinese President Xi Jinping. He stated that China stands ready to take this as an opportunity to help deliver more outcomes from the zero-tariff policy in the Republic of the Congo, and to work together with the Congolese side to continue implementing the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of FOCAC.

President Sassou highly appreciated China's new zero-tariff policy for Africa and expressed the expectation that the Republic of the Congo will reap benefits from it. He noted that the Republic of the Congo is willing to further deepen practical cooperation with China across various fields and jointly organize well FOCAC institutional meetings and events under the FOCAC framework.

During the visit, Ambassador Liu Yuxi also held working exchanges with Minister of International Cooperation of the Republic of the Congo Denis Christel Sassou Nguesso, and Foreign Minister of the Republic of the Congo Jean-Claude Gakosso. He attended the "Zero Tariff, New Opportunities" China Business Fair and the launching ceremony of relevant cooperation projects at invitation.
