IMMEDIATE RELEASE April 2, 2026 Chairwoman Barela releases statement on new "Clean Fuels" legislation Albuquerque, NM - As New Mexico Democrats implement the new "Clean Fuels" legislation, RPNM Chairwoman Amy Barela releases an official statement on what this means for New Mexico: "As our state faces a growing list of problems, New Mexico Democrats are focused on turning our state into California with yet another 'clean fuels' boondoggle," said Chairwoman Barela. "HB 41 was defeated two years ago, and New Mexicans have been very clear that they will not support policies that allow out-of-touch Democrats to control their fuel emissions. Once again, this is an example of a policy forced on us by Democrats that will do nothing but hurt hardworking New Mexicans." "With the current situation in Iran, fuel prices are already experiencing a temporary hike. As President Trump has stated, it is a temporary inconvenience while we ensure that the most dangerous state sponsor of global terrorism no longer has the ability to cause any more destruction. However, let's be very clear: what Democrats are doing with this new 'clean fuels' law in New Mexico is intentional, and it is simply the first of many steps they will take to restrict New Mexicans from buying fuel." ### |
