Ornella Clara, a research master's student at the Faculty of Pharmacy, won first place in the university light kick boxing championships.
Kick boxing light? " It's kick boxing but with a touch, which means that you control your strength, the aim is not to hurt yourself ", explains Ornella Clara, who slipped on her first gloves 8 years ago, starting with Thai boxing and then " one thing leading to another, kick boxing ". She then moved on to light kick boxing on the advice of Atmane Ben Rabia, her boxing coach at Montpellier University.
"It was an opportunity for me to test myself in competition and meet other partners at my level and in my category, of which there aren't very many. Her category: under 50 kilos, a small frame but a great pleasure to practice her sport which enabled her to take first place at the university championships in Reims, even though she didn't think she'd win at all, but was delighted to "meet other partners ".
An unexpected performance for the student who trains 4 to 6 hours a week and "always enjoys going ". No overwork, a good atmosphere, and an activity that fits in " seamlessly " with her studies in pharmacy, where she is enrolled in a research Master's program at both the University of Montpellier and the University of Marseille.
Her plan: to find funding for a thesis in developmental biology, so as to take her first steps in a research career. " And to continue to develop and have fun in the sports I practice, so that they are always a pleasure. A successful combination of personal, professional and sporting life.
