Registered Nurses, Customer Service Representatives and Retail Salespersons are the Top Jobs in June

MONTGOMERY - Data collected and analyzed by the Alabama Department of Workforce's Labor Market Information (LMI) Division shows that in June 2026, there were 124,403 job ads posted in Alabama. This is a 3.3% increase over the month from May 2026. This is a 26.8% increase over the year from June 2025.

The five occupations with the most online job ads are for Registered Nurses, Customer Service Representatives, Retail Salespersons, General and Operations Managers and Fast Food and Counter Workers with 9,990 ads placed for those occupations in June.

In June 2026, the median advertised wage was $55,168 per year. There were 0.51 candidates for every one job opening in June 2026.

"June's job posting data reflects continued momentum in Alabama's labor market, with more than 124,000 online job ads, an increase of more than 4,000 postings from May, demonstrating sustained demand for workers across a wide range of industries," said Workforce Secretary Greg Reed. "Healthcare, retail, hospitality, and management occupations continue to lead hiring activity as employers across Alabama work to fill critical positions and attract qualified talent. The 3.3 percent monthly increase in online job ads, along with strong year-over-year growth and a competitive hiring environment, underscores the resilience of Alabama's economy and the abundance of career opportunities available throughout our state. These trends continue to highlight the importance of workforce development initiatives that connect job seekers with rewarding, indemand careers."

The top two employers posting the most online ads in June 2026 were Walmart Inc. with 1,045 ads and McDonalds's Corporation with 827 ads. The rest of the top 10 were: Huntsville Hospital (743), The University of Alabama At Birmingham (687), Tacala, LLC (553), Leidos (514), UAB Health System (483), Baptist Health (452), DCH Health System (385) and Infirmary health System with 315 online job ads listed.
