UAA cross country 2nd, 3rd in Oregon

Monmouth, Oregon - Ty Elliott ran a breakout race to lead the University of Alaska Anchorage cross country team with a fifth-place finish at the Mike Johnson Classic Saturday.

He finished the eight-kilometer course in 24:14.

John Peckham and Ben Browning finished 14th (24:28) and 15th (24:29) with Matt Rongitsch crossing the line 18th (24:35).

Sam Roy completed the scoring for UAA placing 42nd (25:41). Edgar Vera was 44th (25:19) and Anthony Porter was 48th (25:26).

The UAA men finished third of 13 teams with 75 points.

Alexandra Otto was the first UAA woman across the line finishing sixth in the six-kilometer race in 20:57.

Ryann Smith was 14th (21:28), and Makendra McCarty was 18th (21:39).

Avery Williamson was 27th (21:55), Lilli Lindner 39th (22:11), Alliyah Fields 45th (22:34) and Gloria Kiprotich was 49th (22:38).

The Seawolf women finished second of 14 teams with 86 points.

Unattached runner Cadence Kasprick won the women's race in 20:43, and Brody Kemble of Northwest Nazarene won the men's race in 23:40.

UAA will compete at the Lewis Crossover on Oct. 11.
