HARRISBURG - The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) today acknowledges May 3 through May 9 as "Drinking Water Week" in the Commonwealth as a time to highlight the critical role of safe drinking water in our communities.

"This week-long recognition provides an opportunity for the PUC to work with customers, leaders in the water industry, and our sister agencies to prioritize solutions for the challenges before us," said Ralph V. Yanora, PUC Commissioner and Co-Vice Chair of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) Committee on Water. "The PUC continues its commitment to ensuring the provision of safe, reliable, and adequate water service."

Drinking Water Week provides an opportunity for leaders in the water industry and communities to educate the public about water sources, water quality and the importance of protecting and conserving those water sources.

About Drinking Water Week

For several decades, the American Water Works Association and its members have celebrated Drinking Water Week, a unique opportunity for both water professionals and the communities they serve to join together in recognizing the vital role water plays in daily lives.
