Violent Crimes detectives Thursday night arrested convicted thief and burglar Tarice Lamont Smith, 51, on 35 outstanding warrants for 12 counts of identity theft, 14 counts of credit card fraud, one count of burglary, one count of burglary of a motor vehicle, one count of criminal impersonation, four counts of theft, and two probation violations.
Smith has been identified as the man who entered fitness centers and burglarized vehicles taking credit cards and cash from both. With the assistance of Tennessee Highway Patrol and Vehicle Crimes detectives, Smith was located at an Elm Hill Pike motel where he was taken into custody. He was in possession of stolen credit cards and cash. Additional charges against him are anticipated, including in surrounding jurisdictions.
Smith is a registered ex-con for burglary and has convictions for theft, credit card fraud, and forgery in multiple counties including Davidson, Cannon, Rutherford, Robertson, Warren, and Anderson.
Smith was sentenced to a six-year probated sentence in October 2025 after being convicted of credit card fraud and identity theft.
