Community member celebrates 101st birthday

Happy birthday to Mr. Henry Rainer. Henry has been a Menlo Park community member for 64 years! We celebrated his 101st birthday at Menlo Park Senior Center.

Biography

Henry was born on March 14, 1924, in what is now called Greensboro, Alabama. At the age of 18 he joined the US Navy during WWII. In 1926, Henry wed his high school sweetheart, Annie Mae. Together, they had ten children. In 1961, while stationed at Moffett Field Navy Base, Henry and Annie Mae purchased a home for their family in Menlo Park. After retiring from the Navy, Henry worked in construction, helping build the Great America amusement park in Sunnyvale and later establishing Rainer Gas Station in East Palo Alto.

These days, Henry enjoys reflecting on his faith, his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and the churches he once helped established.

Henry's legacy in the community will surely continue to grow with time. Happy 101st birthday, Henry!
