Lowering of the County Flag: John 'Johnny' Howard Goldring Jr.
This is to advise that Commissioner President Reuben B. Collins, II, Esq. ordered the Charles County flag to be lowered to half-staff effective immediately and returned to full-staff at sunset on Friday, June 12, 2026 to honor John "Johnny" Howard Goldring Jr.
It is with great sadness to inform you that our coworker, John "Johnny" Howard Goldring Jr., passed away on May 27, 2026. Johnny was born and raised in Charles County and graduated from LaPlata High School in 1996. He was hired by Charles County Department of Public Works Utilities in May 2002 and was promoted to Line Maintenance Operator II this year.
Johnny loved his work, and he absolutely knew it made a difference to the citizens of Charles County. John was an avid sports fan, especially football and basketball. His favorite activities included playing cards and attending softball games on Sundays.
John is survived by his parents, Elizabeth and John Sr., his five siblings, Charles, Quincy, Emanual, Anissa, Anita, and his three children, NaKayla, Jade, and Layla.
We offer our condolences and sincerest sympathy to the Goldring family during this very difficult time. Please take a moment to remember our friend and colleague.
