The Office of Management and Budget has issued guidance temporarily pausing all federal grants and certain funding streams pending further review. Community Health Centers (CHCs) rely on multiple federal grant programs to provide primary and preventive care services to over 32.5 million patients, or 1 in 10 people nationwide.
The National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) is proactively engaging with the Administration and Congressional leaders, in partnership with Primary Care Associations, to gather additional information and provide guidance for CHCs. NACHC's priority is to ensure CHCs have the resources needed to provide affordable, effective, comprehensive primary and preventive care to patients in need - including 32.5 million patients nationwide, 10 million rural residents, and 9.4 million children in nearly all congressional districts.
NACHC is assessing the specific impact of the OMB directive on CHCs and will share updates as we learn more. As of Tuesday afternoon, CHCs are unable to access federal funding through typical channels, which has caused confusion and uncertainty. As of 5:30 pm Tuesday, a federal judge temporarily blocked the funding pause until Monday afternoon, February 3rd.
NACHC is monitoring the immediate impact of this situation on CHCs and ask those impacted to share relevant information using this form. We encourage you to stay up to date on happenings via the NACHC Newsroom and by subscribing to NACHC's Washington Update (bit.ly/NACHCsignup). Please contact us with any questions using this form.
