The Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation celebrates 11 holidays a year by closing all non-emergent services so that employees can spend well-deserved time time-off with their family and loved ones. In addition to the widely celebrated Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, here is a list of days throughout the year that our village clinics, hospital outpatient clinic, pharmacy, lab, and administrative offices will be closed. Please keep these dates in mind as you plan your healthcare appointments throughout the year.
The emergency room in Bethel is open every day of the year.
In the villages, you can access care 24-hours a day by calling your village clinic or 800-478-3321 and select the option for the nurse triage line.
On holidays, weekends and after hours, the calls will be promptly answered by YKHC registered nurses (RNs) who have been trained in Bethel and can assist with after-hours care.
Health aides are called when necessary for emergency response, but not contacted when the call can be handled by the responding RN, who has a strong understanding of our region and health aides.
This allows us to ensure our health aides can take some well-deserved time off when the call is not an immediate emergency.
