Happy Easter, Alabama!

As I sit here in the parlor of the Governor's Mansion, the sunlight pours through these windows, warming the room in that gentle way only springtime can.

Outside, the days are growing longer, the air is a little sweeter and all across Alabama, the new signs of life are beginning to appear.

That's the beauty of Easter, and it surrounds us.

And for Christians everywhere, Easter is the most sacred reminder of all: Through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, life triumphs death, and hope rises where sorrow once stood.

The story of that first Easter morning begins quietly.

Before the sun had fully risen, a group of faithful women made their way to the tomb where Jesus had been laid. Their hearts were heavy, expecting to find the stone sealed.

But when they arrived, everything had changed. The stone had been rolled away.

The Gospel of Luke tells us in Chapter 24 Verses 5 through 6: "Why seek ye the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen."

Death had been defeated. The promise of salvation had been fulfilled.

And as Jesus reminds us in John Chapter 11 Verse 25: "I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live."

So, as families gather and church bells ring across Alabama, let us pause and remember the ultimate miracle that makes this day so meaningful.

No matter how dark the night may seem, the morning will come. The stone has been rolled away…hope has risen…He is risen…And because Christ lives, we are given the promise of everlasting life.

From my home to yours, I wish you and your family a joyful Easter. May this holy day renew our hearts and remind us of the grace we are given through our Savior.

May God continue to bless each of you and the great state of Alabama.
