DUBOIS, Pa. - One of the most popular events at Penn State DuBois, Video Game Day, will return for the 2025 edition from 4 to 11 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 15, in the DEF Building. Themed "The Final Level," the event will serve as the final Video Game Day at the campus.

This event will feature four computer labs with PC games, two rooms dedicated to console gaming, retro gaming consoles scattered throughout the venue, and feature tournaments in various games throughout the day. More information and updates are available on the IT Club's website. There is a $5 registration fee.

Jason Long, assistant teaching professor and program leader of the Information Sciences and Technology (IST) department at DuBois, first introduced networked video games in his lab courses to help students monitor and analyze real-time network traffic. The success of this hands-on activity inspired the launch of the first Video Game Day in spring 2003, an event that quickly became a beloved campus tradition.

"Along with the educational aspects of this event, my overall goal has always been to provide a safe and engaging Saturday night for our campus and the community," said Long.

The November 2025 event marks the 42nd installment of Video Game Day. The event reached its peak attendance in fall 2015, drawing 301 gamers from across the region.

Beyond the fun, Video Game Day has served as a launchpad for student success. Alumni have landed impressive roles in the IT industry, thanks in part to the real-world experience gained from managing a live network environment during the event. From game servers and workstations to consoles and cybersecurity, students plan and execute every technical detail.
