Kennedy-King College's Center of Equity for Creative Arts (CECA) is proud to be a part of the 61st Chicago International Film Festival.
On Friday, October 24, CECA will host a free screening of Sun Ra: Do the Impossible, a documentary that delves into the mind of one of the most visionary figures of the 20th century. Through rare archival footage, pulsing performances, and reflective interviews, the film paints a powerful portrait of the jazz icon and philosopher. Chronicling his musical rise-including his transformative years in Chicago, where his radical sound and communal ethos took root-the documentary explores how Sun Ra used music as both a spiritual weapon and a liberatory technology, reimagining Black identity across space and time.
To attend this screening, you must register ahead of time for these first-come, first-served tickets by visiting Kennedy-King: Chicago International Film Festival - CCC.
The City Colleges community can also view Sugar Cane Alley for free with registration at Logan Center for the Arts, 915 E. 60th Street. Learn more and register for your free ticket here: https://cccds.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_9Gh4rFKqB1dh54i.
