WNC Child Development Center Earns Best of Carson City Honor for Ninth Consecutive Year

Consistent care, early learning and a commitment to families continue to distinguish Western Nevada College's Child Development Center, which has once again been named Carson City's top child care provider.

The recognition marks the ninth consecutive year the CDC has been selected as the Nevada Appeal's Best Child Care/Day Care Provider in Carson City, a remarkable streak that reflects the lasting confidence local families place in the center.

For CDC Director Anna Lisa Acosta-Rogers, the award is especially meaningful because it recognizes the people behind the program and the daily work they do for children and families.

"We are incredibly honored to receive this recognition for the ninth consecutive year," Acosta-Rogers said. "Our teachers and staff bring so much dedication, compassion and enthusiasm to their work every day. We are proud to provide a place where children can learn, grow and feel cared for, and we are grateful to the families who trust us with such an important part of their lives."

The CDC wasn't the only one with WNC ties honored. Western Nevada Musical Theatre Company took third place for Best Arts & Culture Organization.

The CDC provides care and early childhood education for nearly 100 children from community families, creating an environment where children can develop foundational skills while receiving the safety, nurturing and individual attention they need.

The center's commitment to quality extends beyond its day-to-day operations. The CDC is the only National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC)-accredited program in the area outside Washoe County and holds a five-star rating through the Nevada Department of Education's Quality Rating and Improvement System.

Those distinctions, combined with the center's experienced educators and focus on early childhood development, have helped establish the CDC as a trusted resource for Carson City families.

"Receiving this honor year after year is a powerful reflection of the trust our community places in the Child Development Center," said WNC President Dr. J. Kyle Dalpe. "Nine consecutive years is an extraordinary accomplishment, and it speaks to the consistency, professionalism and heart of the CDC team. Their work not only supports families today, but also helps give children a strong foundation for lifelong learning."

The CDC's connection to WNC also provides a unique opportunity to introduce young children to a college environment at an early age. Former CDC students have gone on to become WNC students themselves, including graduates who have participated in the college's Jump Start program.

"Early childhood education is about much more than providing child care," Acosta-Rogers said. "It's about creating experiences that help children become confident, curious and excited to learn. We are fortunate to be part of the WNC community and to serve families throughout Carson City."

The Best of Carson City awards were presented Aug. 21 at Casino Fandango.
