Lane closure on International Bridge for maintenance work

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. and Ontario - One lane of alternating traffic will be open on a portion of the Sault Ste. Marie International Bridge this summer during ongoing maintenance work, including painting of the lower U.S. arch steel and bridge deck resurfacing.

A portion of one lane on the south side of the U.S. arch and U.S bridge approach will be closed due to the work and staging of necessary equipment. One lane of alternating traffic will be maintained using temporary traffic signals.

The lane closure will be in place from Monday through Thursday each week. All lanes will be open Friday through Sunday. Maintenance work is expected to be completed by the end of August.

Motorists should expect brief delays and potential backups at the traffic signals.

Please obey all posted speed limits and drive cautiously in the work zone.
