Mayor’s Office Announces Shelter and Warming Station Locations

Baton Rouge, LA - January 20, 2025 - In response to freezing temperatures, the Capital Area Transit System (CATS) will provide complimentary transportation to designated warming centers and shelters to ensure the safety and well-being of residents in need.

The following shelters are available:

St. Vincent de Paul (Open Now)

220 St. Vincent de Paul Drive, Baton Rouge, LA 70802

Salvation Army (Open Now)

7361 Airline Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA 70805

Charles R. Kelley Center (Opening Today at 5 PM)

3535 Riley St, Baton Rouge, LA 70805

Jewel J. Newman Community Center (Opening Today at 6 PM)

2013 Central Rd, Baton Rouge, LA 70802

Leo S. Butler Community Center (Open Now)

950 Lorri Burgess Ave, Baton Rouge, LA 70802

Harmony Center Family Shelter (Open Now)

1967 North Street, Baton Rouge, LA 70802

The following warming stations are available:

Main Library (Opening Tuesday, 9 AM - 9 PM)

7711 Goodwood Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA 70806

Councilman Cleve Dunn's Office (Opening Tuesday at 5 PM)

9048 Airline Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA 70806

Mayor-President Edwards emphasized the city's commitment to community safety during extreme weather events, stating:

"The Mayor's Office remains fully dedicated to supporting our residents and ensuring their safety and well-being during these challenging conditions. These events remind us of the importance of unity and compassion. We encourage everyone to come together and support one another. If you encounter anyone outdoors that may need assistance, please take a moment to inform them about the designated areas available for shelter and support. Together, we can ensure everyone can access the resources they need during this difficult time."
