Indiana places 2nd in the annual Government Experience Awards

INDIANAPOLIS (Oct. 2, 2025) - The State of Indiana has been decorated as a leading state in providing digital government services by the Center for Digital Government (CDG). Indiana placed second among the states in the overall state government experience in the annual Government Experience Awards, which evaluates how states, cities and counties are providing online government services.

This year, the State launched Ask Indiana, a generative artificial intelligence bot that has made it easier for citizens to find information across state government websites.

  • Searches are down 1.6 million this year compared to the same 4-month period in 2024 (May 1 - August 31)
  • Replaced by ≈214,000 questions to Ask Indiana

PEOPLE ARE FINDING CONTENT FASTER

  • Average time on IN.gov is down 53 seconds per visit compared to the same 4-month period in 2024

ACTIVITY HAS INCREASED

  • Page views on IN.gov are up by 10.5 million compared to the same 4-month period in 2024

"The Government Experience Awards highlight how agencies are moving forward with emerging technologies like AI while keeping accessibility front and center," said Dustin Haisler, President of e.Republic. "This year's winners show that innovation in government works best when it combines the right technologies with experiences that people can trust."

Indiana has placed in the top four among all states in seven of the past eight years when it was eligibile for the CDG awards. In the nine years of the competition, Indiana has placed second (2017), third (2018), first (2019), fourth (2021), fourth (2022), third (2023), finalist (2024) and second (2025). The state was ineligible to compete in 2020 after winning the preceding year.
