Council Connect: Mayor Anderson Premieres the 2026 State of the Town Address

This year's State of the Town brought our community together for an evening of reflection, connection, and a shared vision for Gilbert's future. We were reminded that Gilbert's continued success is rooted in the people who call this community home and the partnerships that help move us forward.

This year's theme, "For Today. For Tomorrow. For Gilbert," reflects a commitment to balancing the needs of today with thoughtful planning for the future, all while staying grounded in the values that define our town.

Gilbert continues to be recognized as one of the nation's most caring communities and a place where families can live, work, and thrive. These recognitions are not just rankings; they reflect the people who make up our community. From residents and local businesses to Town staff and community partners, it is the collective effort of many that shapes Gilbert into the place we are proud to call home.

The evening celebrated progress but also emphasized the importance of being honest about the work ahead. "We're making difficult but necessary decisions to invest in the infrastructure needed for a growing, maturing community," said Mayor Anderson. "That means planning deliberately and responsibly for the long term so, the Gilbert our children and grandchildren inherit is as strong, or stronger, than the one we know today," he added.

For Today

As a Council, we remain focused on meeting the needs of our community today. This includes continued investment in parks, public safety, water resources, and the community spaces that bring people together.

We are working to ensure that Gilbert remains inclusive and accessible for residents of all ages and abilities, while also strengthening services that support our most vulnerable community members.

For Tomorrow

Gilbert continues to mature and we are committed to investing in the infrastructure and resources needed to support that growth, while maintaining the high quality of service residents expect. This includes supporting the dedicated workforce that helps deliver those services each and every day.

For Gilbert

With almost 300,000 residents calling Gilbert home, every decision we make is guided by our commitment to serve the entire community. Whether it is investing in infrastructure, enhancing community spaces, or planning for long term sustainability, our focus remains on preserving the quality of life that makes Gilbert unique for today and for generations to come.

Looking Ahead, Together

The State of the Town served as a reminder that Gilbert's story is still being written. Through continued collaboration, engagement, and shared purpose, we will move forward together to build a strong and resilient future for our community.

Thank you to everyone who attended or participated in this year's event. Your involvement plays an important role in shaping Gilbert's future.
