Landscape architects know that for millions of Americans, transportation doesn't start behind a steering wheel. It starts on a sidewalk, a crosswalk, or a bike lane. As communities face rising costs, traffic congestion, and safety challenges, the demand for safe, connected biking and walking infrastructure isn't optional-it's essential.

But key federal legislators have signaled potential cuts or elimination of programs that fund bicycle, pedestrian, and trail projects. These programs are foundational to the work of landscape architects. This funding enables the planning and design of multi-use trails, complete streets, and pedestrian networks that improve safety, connectivity, and community well-being.
