The May 2025 India-Pakistan conflict is the first-ever instance where the One-Way Attack (OWA) drones were used in South Asia. These cost-effective, one-time-use Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) engage and precisely hit their respective targets. India and Pakistan used a series of these kinetic UAVs to target each other's military installations and civilian infrastructure. India has shown an unusual interest in UAVs after the May 2025 conflict. Reports indicate that India plans to invest US$470 million in the UAVs domain within the next 1-2 years, alongside the previous US$4.6 billion, with approval in terms of emergency military procurement funds.[1] The surge in the procurement of the OWA drones has serious implications for stability in the region.
