Elmhurst, NY - NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst today announced the completion of a major renovation to one of its busiest radiology rooms. The renovation is part of the hospital's ongoing efforts to modernize imaging facilities and improve patient flow and patient care. The $450,000 renovation includes the installation of a new state-of-the-art GE X-ray machine capable of producing higher-quality images and performing fluoroscopy procedures. Expected to serve more than 15,000 patients per year, the renovated space will expand the diagnostic capabilities for both emergency and inpatient services.
"This project is part of our ongoing plans to reconstruct Elmhurst Hospital for the 21st Century and ensure that our community has access to the latest and most advanced radiology equipment," said NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst CEO Dr. Helen Arteaga-Landaverde. "The renovation will help support seamless and more efficient patient care throughout the hospital. I am extremely proud of our Radiology team and congratulate them on helping to implement these crucial improvements for our patients."
Dr. Vivek Masson, Director of the Department of Radiology, and Grace Ann Weick, ANP and Chief of Ancillary Services, discuss the benefits for the newly renovated space and its impact on patient care."Over the past few years, we've made a concerted effort to enhance our imaging capabilities by investing millions in the newest technology available," said NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst COO Milenko Milinic. "We've upgraded numerous X-Ray & Mammography rooms, Ultrasounds, CT's, a Nuclear Camera and added a Mobile MRI. All of these upgrades and additions ensure that we have the tools needed to better diagnose and ultimately treat ailments affecting members of our community in a timely manner. By increasing our capacity to better meet demand, these quicker scans directly translate to shorter waits for our patients and improved patient flow."
"Elmhurst Hospital performs more than 100,000 X-rays each year, and this new system brings our patients the very latest in precision x-ray imaging," said NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst Director of Radiology Dr. Vivek Masson. "The GE Definium 656 HD Gen 6 produces clearer images at lower radiation doses, helping our physicians make faster, more accurate diagnoses while enhancing patient safety and comfort. Most importantly, it allows us to extend high-quality, equitable care to every member of our diverse community."
"This is a new state of the art GE x-ray room enabling us to expedite patient flow and improve image quality for patients needing radiology services in our ED, in-patient and out-patient services," said NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst Chief of Ancillary Services Officer Grace Ann Weick.
This renovation is part of a multi-phase initiative to upgrade the hospital's radiology suites, ensuring that the community has access to the most advanced diagnostic tools available in a safe, comfortable environment.
