TaylorMade Introduces Radar Launch Monitor Enabled TRK-R Golf Balls

|January 23, 2025

CARLSBAD, Calif. (Jan. 23, 2025) - TaylorMade Golf announces the release of its first ever radar launch monitor enabled golf balls - TP5 and TP5x TRK-R. TRK-R golf balls take the indoor radar-based launch monitor experience to another level with premium accuracy and the same proven technology that has made the TP5 and TP5x the most played five-layer golf balls on the PGA TOUR.

TP5 and TP5x TRK-R golf balls will be available for purchase for $64.99 USD per dozen at TaylorMadeGolf.com and available in stores starting Jan. 23.

Though TRK-R golf balls are designed for indoor use, they are USGA conforming and can be played in competition.

"What good is designing the best equipment in market if people can't accurately see how well it performs? The TRK-R ball now allows golfers and fitters to see exactly how well TaylorMade equipment performs."
Mike Fox, Senior Director of Golf Ball Product Creation

Radar Enabled Tracking Technology

TP5 and TP5x TRK-R golf balls provide golfers an elevated level of accuracy with radar enabled tracking indoors. Beneath the cover, a small amount of liquid silver has been embedded which emits highly reflective waves that are picked up by radar-based launch monitors like Trackman. While most radar-based launch monitors have difficulty accurately measuring data points indoors because they aren't able to capture a full rotation of the golf ball as it comes off the face, the inclusion of liquid silver printed in a nonsymmetrical infinity pattern makes the capture of data indoors highly accurate with TRK-R golf balls.

TaylorMade performed extensive testing with TRK-R golf balls on Trackman launch monitors and received Trackman's certification on their capture.

The liquid silver has no impact on the performance of either TP5 or TP5x TRK-R.

"Radar based launch monitors can be one of the largest investments in the game. Ensuring that these units are providing accurate information to the golfer or fitters is just as important as providing top performance."
Mike Fox, Senior Director of Golf Ball Product Creation

Proven TaylorMade Technologies and Construction

Just like TP5 and TP5x, TRK-R golf balls incorporate a suite of tour-proven technologies.

The Speed Wrapped Core (also found in TP5 and TP5x) delivers a soft sound that golfers prefer while also promoting fast ball speeds for superior distance and performance at the top of the bag.

Five-layer progressive construction is also utilized in TRK-R golf balls and has been evolved to enhance tee-to-green performance that boosts distance from the tee and provides wind stability and greenside control at the same time.

TP5 and TP5x TRK-R golf balls are ideal for commercial indoor fitting facilities and hitting bays as well as in-home radar-based simulator setups.

Another Level of Fitting

TRK-R golf balls will allow fitters to do their job with an added layer of accuracy and efficiency. They represent yet another dynamic that puts TaylorMade at the forefront of fitting. In addition to Qi35 SelectFit driver heads with built-in fitting markers, MyFittingExperience technology, and incredible adjustability and customization options, TaylorMade has positioned itself as an industry leader in making it easy for golfers to find the perfect equipment for their game.
