Scooter Collision Leaves One Dead NR24264cm

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department's West Traffic Division Detectives are asking for the public's help in identifying the suspect in a fatal hit-and-run collision involving a scooter and a pedestrian.

On September 12, 2024, around 4:50 p.m., a female and a male were riding separate motorized scooters westbound James M. Wood Boulevard near Westmoreland Avenue, on the sidewalk. The female collided into a pedestrian walking on the sidewalk, causing her to fall off the scooter and the pedestrian to fall onto the ground. The female picked up the scooter and fled the scene, following the male, eastbound James M. Wood Boulevard without identifying herself or rendering aid to the pedestrian, as required by law.

The Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and provided medical treatment to the pedestrian. The pedestrian was later taken to a local area hospital by family members, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased by hospital staff.
