Parkview Health breaks ground on full-service hospital in West Lafayette

Approximately $200 million investment to expand access to high-quality healthcare in one of Indiana's fastest-growing communities

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - July 27, 2026 - Parkview Health today celebrated the groundbreaking of its future full-service hospital and medical office building in West Lafayette, marking a major milestone in the health system's commitment to serving the evolving healthcare needs of Tippecanoe County. The approximately $200 million project is being developed near the intersection of N 100 W and Kalberer Road on land acquired from the Purdue Research Foundation (PRF).

First announced in July 2025, the project will bring a nearly 200,000-square-foot hospital to West Lafayette, featuring up to 40 inpatient beds, a 24/7 emergency department, surgical and procedural services, specialty care, lab and imaging services, a comprehensive range of outpatient offerings and space for future expansion. A neighboring medical office building will provide primary and specialty care services for the community.

The development is expected to create an estimated 250 healthcare jobs while strengthening access to care for residents throughout West Lafayette, Tippecanoe County and the surrounding region.

"A year ago, we shared our vision for bringing a full-service hospital to West Lafayette. Today, we're turning that vision into reality," said Dr. Greg Johnson, chief physician executive of growth markets, Parkview Health. "This community is expanding rapidly, and healthcare infrastructure needs to keep pace. We're excited to begin building a hospital that will expand access to emergency, inpatient and specialty care close to home for the people of Tippecanoe County."

"From the beginning, our goal has been to become a trusted healthcare partner in West Lafayette," added John Bowen, Parkview Health's chief growth markets officer. "As construction gets underway, we're excited to continue building relationships throughout the community and working alongside local leaders to support the region's long-term growth and success."

Parkview leaders, community partners, local officials and project stakeholders gathered for the ceremony to commemorate the start of construction and celebrate the collaboration that helped bring the project to fruition.

"Access to medical care is essential to our growing community and to the economic success of our region," said Mitch Daniels, Interim President, Purdue University. "Parkview's commitment helps meet that vital need and we look forward to expanded medical options for Purdue and its community partners."

"From my time in Congress representing West Lafayette to now as their Attorney General, I know this area to be a special place with great people," Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita said. "So, it's no coincidence Parkview Health chose to build here with the intention of delivering greater access to healthcare and real results for this community. As a regulator, I must reserve judgment, but I do have high expectations for the value this project can deliver."

"Today's groundbreaking represents Parkview's confidence in this community, its people and its future," Chuck Goodrich, Indiana Secretary of Commerce. "This facility is one of the greatest quality-of-life investments a community can make, ensuring families can receive world-class care closer to home and employers can know their workforce has access to exceptional healthcare."

"Today's groundbreaking represents another important investment in West Lafayette's future," said Erin Easter, mayor of West Lafayette. "As our community continues to experience significant growth, we have been intentional about planning for that growth and ensuring residents and families have access to the services they need close to home. Expanding access to high-quality healthcare is an important part of that commitment. This hospital will strengthen the quality of life that makes West Lafayette such a special place to call home while helping meet the healthcare needs of our community for generations to come. We are grateful for Parkview's partnership and investment in West Lafayette."

"Today's groundbreaking marks an important milestone for West Lafayette and our purpose-built innovation district, Purdue Research Park," said PRF President and CEO Chad Pittman. "We are pleased to celebrate this full-service hospital moving from plan to reality as our region continues to grow and attract top-tier talent and industry. Parkview will be a vital asset for those who choose to live and work in Greater Lafayette."

While construction on the new campus progresses, Parkview will expand access to care this October with the opening of a primary care clinic just down the road at 1305 Cumberland Ave. The hospital is scheduled to open in June 2028.

Parkview Health is a nonprofit, community-focused health system serving Indiana and northwest Ohio with a mission to improve health and inspire well-being. Parkview Health includes 15 hospitals and an extensive network of primary and specialty care physicians.

Parkview demonstrates leadership in addressing healthcare affordability, renegotiating contracts with major insurers to deliver more than $1.1 billion in hospital rate reductions through 2025 and securing a new long-term agreement with Anthem that extends reduced rates through 2029.

In 2025, Parkview introduced Signature Care EPO+, a direct-to-employer health plan that can save employers up to 25% compared to commercial insurance.
