On February 7, the Chinese Embassy in Iceland hosted 2026 "Happy Chinese New Year" Reception. Ambassador He Rulong and his wife as well as Permanent Secretary Benedikt Árnason of the Office of the Prime Minister, Chairman Pawel Bartoszek of Foreign Affairs Committee of the Parliament, representatives of Landsbjörg and more than 1,000 other friends from all walks of life in Iceland, including diplomatic communities, overseas Chinese and Chinese students in Iceland attended the event and celebrated the Chinese New Year of Horse. The event was attended by Jin Dong, Head of the China Coal Mine Art Troupe, as well as Counsellor Yang Jing and Counsellor Dai Ke of the Embassy. 

Ambassador He Rulong emphasized in his speech that China-Iceland relations had achieved remarkable progress over last year, with head-of-state diplomacy opening a new chapter in the bilateral ties. This year marks the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Iceland. China is willing to work with Iceland to implement the important consensus reached between our two heads of state and join hands in building a community of shared future for humanity.

The China Coal Mine Art Troupe staged a Gala Performance of Chinese Classical Dance, "Rhythm of the Orient", highlighting the fusion of traditional Chinese culture with Western elements. The performance had received standing ovation. All proceeds from ticket sales were donated to Landsbjörg or Icelandic Association for Search and Rescue.
