Community Invited to Help Shape the Next Chapter of Providence Public Schools

PROVIDENCE, RI - The Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) and Providence Public Schools (PPSD) will host a community forum inviting students, families, educators, and community members to help shape the future of Providence Public Schools as the district prepares to transition to local control.

The community forum will take place on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Providence Career and Technical Academy, located at 41 Fricker Street in Providence.

"In partnership with the community, RIDE and PPSD have laid a strong foundation for the district's long-term success," said Commissioner Angélica Infante-Green. "This community forum represents an important opportunity to elevate PPSD's progress with the support of the state and help shape a stronger, more resilient district for all students."

"The momentum in Providence Public Schools is clear, and at this critical moment, it's essential that we keep community voices at the center to sustain that progress," said Superintendent Dr. Javier Montañez. "Students, families, and educators each have a role to play in building on our hard-earned gains. We invite the community to be at the table and help shape what comes next."

"The Community's Vision for the Future of Providence Public Schools" forum will provide an opportunity for participants to share their expectations and perspectives as the district continues to build on its progress under state intervention.

Community input will play a critical role in guiding the next chapter of Providence Public Schools. All participants are encouraged to engage in discussion and contribute ideas that will support continued improvement across the district.

Childcare and refreshments will be provided.
