Podcast: What does a board of directors even do

According to Harvard Business Review , serving on a board of directors can lead to promotions, raises, access to mentorship, and professional skill development. Despite these many benefits, general public perceptions on boards are vague at best, as they are often depicted as secretive and anonymous in movies and shows.

Demystifying the work of boards is Jen Motyka. Jen is an Anchorage business owner who earned her graduate certificate in executive leadership from UAA and has extensive experience serving on boards, including but not limited to: Linford of Alaska, Campfire Alaska, Choose Anchorage Leadership, East Anchorage Rotary and, more recently, the UAA Alumni Association.

In this episode, Jen talks about the amazing things a board can accomplish, how to find and join a board that aligns with your interests, and the value of doing things even if you are afraid.

Seawolf Voices is available on Spotify , Apple , YouTube and Audible .
