The North American west has experienced a lower snowpack than usual this year. Higher temperatures have caused precipitation to fall as rain instead of snow. Idahoans have experienced this warm winter firsthand, but the weather has also affected western regions as far north as Canada.
To help report on this year's weather and its impact on snowpack and water resources, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation spoke to Professor Alejandro Flores of the Department of Geosciences. Flores had previously written for The Conversation about the snow drought in the western United States.
