Northwest Missouri State University will express appreciation for the donors who support its students and programs during the institution's annual Thank a Donor Day - one week after donors provided a record amount of dollars during the Northwest Foundation's annual Bearcat Day of Green fundraising campaign.
Thank a Donor Day will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, in the J.W. Jones Student Union. It offers Northwest students and employees an opportunity to learn about the ways donors assist the University while providing gratitude for donor contributions.
Scholarship support remains a central mission of the Northwest Foundation, which funded 1,437 scholarship awards for students during 2024.
The Thank a Donor day is occurring on the heels of a record-shattering Bearcat Day of Green giving campaign. On Thursday, April 3, the Northwest Foundation, which develops and stewards philanthropic resources for the benefit of the University and students, concluded its fifth annual Bearcat Day of Green campaign. During a span of 1,905 minutes - a tribute to Northwest's founding year - 820 donors provided gifts totaling $188,384 for University initiatives.
This year's fundraising total increased by nearly 70 percent from $111,725 raised during last year's Bearcat Day of Green.
"We are ecstatic by the collaborative efforts of our people in support of our place," said Mike Johnson, vice president of university advancement and executive director of the Northwest Foundation Inc. "Led by Christian Dixon, our annual fund specialist and our University Advancement team, we are beaming in the collective results of many that partnered with us philanthropically."
This year's Bearcat Day of Green centered on initiatives supporting academics, Bearcat athletics, Bearcats Helping Bearcats, KXCV-KRNW radio, the Northwest Fund, scholarships and student life.
Scholarship support remains a central mission of the Northwest Foundation, which secured $5.7 million in total giving during fiscal year 2024, including nearly $1.4 million that funded 1,437 scholarship awards.
Further, during the last fiscal year, the Foundation facilitated the creation of 15 endowed scholarships, established through gifts totaling a minimum of $25,000.
The Northwest Foundation, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation, is governed by a 36-member volunteer board and staffed by members of Northwest's Office of University Advancement.
