On this is Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, EBC takes a moment to honour Survivors of residential schools, remember the children who never returned home, and reflect on the lasting impacts of the residential school system.

As part of our reconciliation journey, we have taken meaningful steps this year to deepen our understanding and strengthen relationships. This includes the creation of a bursary for Indigenous students studying at Algonquin College and a partnership with Woven North Consulting, an Indigenous-owned firm based in Calgary to develop organization-wide training focused on awareness of Indigenous histories, realities and perspectives.

This training is specifically designed for EBC and will support us in building shared understanding, shared language, and shared responsibility across our teams. These efforts reflect our commitment to acknowledging the responsibilities that come with working on Indigenous territories and to advancing reconciliation in ways that are thoughtful, concrete, and sustained.
