ABU-Rai Days 2025 event held in Naples

The 2025 edition of ABU-Rai Days took place on 12 June 2025 at the RAI TV Production Centre in Naples, Italy, and had over 100 in-person attendees from across the Asia-Pacific and Europe. This year's event was held in a hybrid format, with number of representatives from ABU member organisations joining via livestream. The event also formed part of the celebrations marked the 2,500th anniversary of the city of Naples.

Centred on the theme "Children and the Media: Ensuring Relevance for Public Media in the 21st Century," the event attracted public media leaders, producers, academics, students, and innovators. In line with the theme, students from three Naples universities also took part in the discussions.

The event was opened by Simona Martorelli, Rai Director of International Relations and European Affairs; Nargiza Numanova, Head of the ABU Secretary-General's Department; and Simona Agnes, Member of the Rai Board of Directors and the EBU Executive Board. It emphasised that trusted, high-quality, and engaging content for children and young people must remain central to the mission of public service media.

Throughout the day, participants engaged in rich dialogue on topics including public media's role in shaping future generations, promoting media literacy and critical thinking, innovation in children's audio and podcasts, co-productions, cross-cultural storytelling, and policies fostering safe, inclusive digital environments.

Highlights included impactful panels on AI and storytelling, as well as thought-provoking discussions led by speakers from the ABU, EBU, ABC, EBS, and TRT. From youth programming and digital innovation to media literacy and AI ethics, the event underscored ABU-Rai Days' role as a vital bridge between European and Asian media-connecting perspectives, sharing solutions, and building lasting partnerships.

The event concluded with a celebration of the enduring mission of public service media: to inform, educate, and empower young audiences. The ABU extends its gratitude to all participants for their valuable contributions.
