MoDOT Route 5 and 40 intersection changes now bundled with 2 other projects

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo - A project to improve the intersection at Missouri Route 5 and U.S. Route 40 will now bundle with two other nearby projects, in an effort to secure the best value and product for taxpayers. The intersection improvements, a bridge rehabilitation on Route 5 over Sulphur Creek and a project to resurface Routes 124, BB & CC in Boone and Howard counties are scheduled to go out for contractor bids in October 2025.

This will alter the planned construction schedule for the intersection improvements. Previously planned for summer of 2025, the improvements are now expected in 2026.

The Missouri Highway and Transportation Commission evaluated bids on the Route 5 and U.S. Route 40 intersection improvements at their June meeting and did not award a contract, as the bids were excessive.
