Rotary Club of Monterey Bay Boosts Literacy with Generous Children's Book Donation to County Libraries

MARINA, CA - The Monterey County Free Libraries (MCFL) is proud to announce a generous donation of children's books from the Rotary Club of Monterey Bay Passport. Following a successful community-wide book drive, the Rotary Club has provided a diverse collection of new titles that will benefit readers at all MCFL branches, from Pajaro to Parkfield. Books from the Sheriff's Department Christmas book drive are included in the donation through the Rotary Club.

The book drive focused specifically on high-quality children's books to support early literacy and academic success across Monterey County. These additions come at a vital time as the library system expands interactive youth programming and gets ready for Summer Reading Club challenges.

"We are absolutely thrilled to welcome these new books into our collection," said Be Astengo, Managing Librarian for Monterey County Free Libraries. "The Rotary Club of Monterey Bay Passport's commitment to our youth ensures that every child in our community has access to engaging stories that spark curiosity and a lifelong love of reading. Seeing these fresh titles on our shelves is a wonderful win for our young patrons."

The Rotary Club of Monterey Bay Passport is a local chapter of Rotary International, a global network of neighbors, friends, and leaders who volunteer their time and resources to solve community challenges. Their focus on literacy aligns with the library's mission to provide free and equal access to information and education for all residents.
