Legislation sponsored by Senator Latham Tiver (R-Atlantic, Burlington) was signed into law to invest $77.4 million in the Green Acres program to fund local environmental projects across the Garden State.
"Green Acres has played an important role in protecting the natural resources and outdoor spaces that make New Jersey a great place to live, work, and recreate," said Senator Tiver. "This is a huge investment that will now help communities maintain and improve the places where residents gather and enjoy New Jersey's natural beauty."
Senator Tiver's bill, S-4423/A-5334, will support 85 projects approved by the Department of Environmental Protection and the Garden State Preservation Trust. The Green Acres program has protected more than 725,000 acres of open space since it's inception in 1961.
