COLUMBUS, Ohio - State Rep. Haraz N. Ghanbari (R-Perrysburg) issued the following statement Monday after Gov. Mike DeWine ordered the flags of the United States and the state of Ohio lowered to half-staff in Wood County on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, in honor of the life and service of David M. Ridenour:
"David Ridenour lived a life of service, sacrifice and commitment to others. His induction into the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame reflected the caliber of his service and the lasting impact he made on veterans, their families and the Wood County community," said Ghanbari. "I am grateful to Governor DeWine for honoring Mr. Ridenour's life and legacy by ordering flags lowered in his memory.
Ghanbari, a fellow inductee into the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame in 2018, noted the governor's order recognizes Ridenour's decades of service and continued commitment to Ohio's veterans.
"David's service to our nation as a young Army officer who served in the Vietnam War, and his continued advocacy for veterans reflected the very best of Ohio," said Ghanbari. "We join his family, friends and the veterans community in mourning his passing and honoring a life well lived."
Ridenour, an Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame inductee and longtime member of the Wood County Veterans Service Commission, dedicated much of his life to serving veterans, their families and the greater Wood County community.
Under the governor's order, the flags of the United States and the state of Ohio shall be flown at half-staff upon all county government buildings and grounds throughout Wood County on June 30, 2026. All other public buildings and grounds throughout the state may lower their flags at their discretion for the same time period.
