Lewisville Animal Shelter Shifts Hours, Pauses Non-Urgent Intake
Lewisville Animal Services is temporarily adjusting shelter hours and pausing non-urgent owner surrenders while the department works through several staff vacancies.
Effective Friday, Sept. 11, the shelter will open at noon, Tuesday through Friday, instead of 10 a.m., giving staff additional time each morning for feeding, cleaning, and medical care. The department is also pausing new non-urgent surrender appointments through October, though urgent situations will continue to be evaluated individually and previously scheduled appointments will be honored.
Emergency and public safety calls remain the department's top priority throughout this transition. Animal Services is actively recruiting to fill open positions and will restore normal hours and intake as staffing improves.
