SCHWIEBERDINGEN, Germany - July 30, 2026 - PPG (NYSE: PPG) today announced the completion of a COLORFUL COMMUNITIES® project at Hermann-Butzer-Schule, a primary school in Schwieberdingen, Germany. The project brought together employees from PPG's Ingersheim R&D facility, alongside parents, school representatives and local partners, to transform outdoor learning and recreational spaces at the school's two sites at Bergschule and Talschule.
Volunteers painted colorful ground games and interactive markings designed to encourage movement, creativity and social interaction among students. The project also included the refurbishment of wooden fences, playhouses, climbing structures, an outdoor classroom, a table tennis area and other outdoor elements. The design concept, developed in collaboration with Studio Vierkant, a German design studio, introduced multiple artistic features combining colorful wall graphics and graffiti-inspired elements.
PPG volunteers recently completed a COLORFUL COMMUNITIES® project that transformed outdoor learning and recreational spaces at a primary school in Schwieberdingen, Germany.
PPG provided a grant of $51,000 (45,000 euros), including more than 130 gallons (500 liters) of SIGMA COATINGS™ products. Materials used included Sigma Bravasol waterborne coating suitable for ground markings and exterior applications and Sigma Coatings Contour Aqua PU Gloss paint, a premium waterborne enamel designed for wooden benches. It uses PPG's advanced LTA™ + resin technology, which ensures a hard, scratch-resistant finish that repels grease and dirt, making it highly durable and easy to maintain in public spaces.
The Hermann-Butzer-Schule serves approximately 500 children across its two school sites, offering 19 primary school classes, as well as a preparatory class and a support class. Its educational approach is built on creating a welcoming environment where every child feels valued, supporting each student in reaching their full potential, and fostering a culture of respect, honesty and mutual support.
"This project has created a remarkable transformation across our school grounds, making them more vibrant, welcoming, and inspiring places for children," said Christoph Cimander, principal of Hermann-Butzer-Schule. "The improvements support not only play and physical activity, but also creativity, imagination and social interaction. The spaces encourage children to learn, explore and connect with one another while strengthening the sense of community that is so important to our school. We are grateful to PPG and everyone involved for their commitment to our students and their future."
"At PPG, we are proud to support projects that create a lasting difference in local communities," said Martin Maurer, PPG technical director, customer development, Germany ,Automotive OEM Coatings. "This project is a wonderful example of what can be achieved when a school, parents, community partners and PPG volunteers work together toward a shared goal. I am incredibly proud of everyone involved in transforming these outdoor spaces into places that will support learning, creativity and connection for years to come."
