REALTORS® must complete NAR’s triennial Code of Ethics training by December 31

Your Illinois REALTORS® reminds all members that the triennial Code of Ethics training requirement must be completed by December 31, 2024. If you haven't completed your training yet, these online Illinois REALTORS® courses will fulfill your requirement: D2L 3-hour CE: Ethics 1535 - Ethics in Real Estate and Leap Learning 3-hour CE: Using the Code to Solve Ethical Dilemmas.

All REALTORS® must complete at least 2.5 hours of an approved Code of Ethics Training within the three-year cycle. The current three-year cycle began on January 1, 2022. The training may be completed through NAR's online courses or through NAR-approved online or classroom courses provided by state and local associations.

Some courses may not be updated to reflect the practice changes resulting from the proposed NAR Settlement Agreement in the Sitzer/Burnett class action lawsuit. They will still fulfill the Code of Ethics requirement. A hearing for final approval of the settlement is scheduled for November. 26, 2024.

Members can check the status of their Code of Ethics training requirement through NAR's website. Code of Ethics training courses that were taken through Illinois REALTORS® may be found using Illinois REALTORS® Education Lookup.

If the requirement is not met by January 2025, an individual's membership will be suspended. Be sure to complete the requirement before the end of the year.
